JOB SUMMARY



As a key member of the Software Quality Assurance team, we are seeking a Senior Software Performance Test Engineer with expertise in performance testing, performance engineering and performance optimizations.

 

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests using industry-standard tools. This role requires proficiency in automation scripting and working with modern performance testing frameworks and monitoring tools.

 

This position will report into a team consisting of four or more performance testers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Design and execute performance, scalability, and load testing for complex systems that are hosted in Azure cloud.
  • Develop and maintain test scripts using tools such as JMeter and scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, Groovy, or Java.
  • Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and work with teams to implement improvements.
  • Monitor Production data and adapt performance test approach based on actual product usage patterns and load patterns.
  • Define Non-Functional Requirements (NFR’s) based on industry best practices and based on product architecture.
  • Monitor and gather metrics using tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and Elasticsearch.
  • Build and maintain test environments, leveraging Docker and containerized setups.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create comprehensive performance testing documentation, including test plans, scripts, and results reports.
  • Ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements under expected load conditions.
  • Step in as acting lead when the performance test lead is away on vacation.


SALARY: $105,000 - $125,000yr

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a member of a performance test team
  • Hands-on experience performance testing tools, including JMeter.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Groovy, or Java.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Kibana, and Thanos.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker)
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch and distributed systems.
  • Experience with horizontal and vertical scaling of Kubernetes pods
  • Experience testing and refining KEDA (Kubernetes Event-driven Autoscaler) thresholds
  • Experience modeling peak and valley hours and defining associated load profiles/ policies.
  • Experience building custom load injectors.
  • Analytical skills to identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using JIRA, Confluence and Zephyr is desirable
  • Experience with Source Control Management Tools (Git/Bitbucket)
  • Experience defining / gathering non-functional requirements (NFR’s)
  • Experience with Azure Cloud environments is desirable
  • Experience with Database optimizations for both SQL (MariaDB) and NOSQL (MongoDB) databases (preferred)
  • Experience with Openlens to manage kube clusters(preferred)
