New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority Awards Safe Fleet a Three-Year Video System Service and Maintenance Contract

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BELTON, MO – June 6, 2024 – The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (NYCMTA) announced that it has signed a three-year contract with Safe Fleet, a global leader in fleet safety solutions, following a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Under this agreement, Safe Fleet will provide outsourced video management services, maintaining and managing the video systems installed on the City’s fleets of over 5,000 buses. The total estimated value of the awarded contract is $25.7 million with options of up to three 2-year contracts estimated at $49.7 million.

Safe Fleet will be responsible for retrieving video events, packaging, and sharing clips with requesting NYC authorities. The company will also conduct regular maintenance checks and repairs to ensure camera system health and uptime, thereby fostering a safer and more secure transit environment for the city’s commuters.

The services provided in this agreement are part of Safe Fleet’s unique Safety-As-A-Service (SAAS) portfolio, a comprehensive installation, service, and proactive maintenance program that ensures all technology systems are regularly inspected, maintained, and fully operational, guaranteeing optimal performance and longevity of the safety solutions.

Daniel Pulskamp, Safe Fleet Vice-President Transit, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This contract extends our long-term partnership with the NYCMTA, a collaboration that ensures every video event on MTA’s expansive fleet of buses is captured and delivered to the requesting authority. We are proud to be part of this initiative that prioritizes the safety and security of New York City’s transit system.”

This contract award is a significant milestone for Safe Fleet, advancing its ‘Safe City’ vision. The company is building a technology platform where cities can collaborate and share evidence across agencies to elevate safety and protect citizens.

The NYCMTA’s decision to entrust Safe Fleet with this responsibility solidifies the company’s position as a trusted partner in achieving this vision, demonstrating the value of Safe Fleet’s services in enhancing the safety and security of public transit.

“We look forward to continuing our work with NYCMTA and playing a key role in realizing a safer city vision for New York City.  Our commitment remains to deliver state-of-the-art safety solutions that protect citizens and ensure a high standard of living,” Pulskamp concluded.
