About The Position


Role Overview

Al Van Equip is currently looking for a Controller to oversee and ensure the integrity and accuracy of all Al Van Equip financial reporting. Reporting to the VP Finance and General Manager, this position will lead accounting in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles. Role will be responsible for multisite showrooms, with approximately 10% of travel with opportunity of more. Essential skills include excellent communication and organization skills and being comfortable partnering with a variety of individuals and departments within Al Van Equip and affiliated companies.

Main Responsibilities:                        

As the most senior finance person at Al Van Equip, this role’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Drive the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and development of financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts, scenario analyses, and ad hoc reporting to support business planning and growth initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate the financial reporting function, ensuring timely and accurate monthly close and clear visibility into business performance.
  • Own the monthly close process, including review of results, variance analysis, and actionable insights for management.
  • Coordinate, control, reconcile, and report physical inventory results.
  • Perform a range of accounting, administrative, and reporting support activities (including AR, AP, general ledger, tax support, audit requests, and reconciliations) as part of a flexible, hands-on finance function.




Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in finance, accounting or economics is a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, management experience a strong asset.
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA license a plus (active status not a concern).
  • Experience in ERP reporting systems (NetSuites is a plus).
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal control principles in a manufacturing environment, including a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare/present financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Experience motivating people to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
